PICTURES OF OLD HUNTINGTON HOTEL ON MAIN STREET
|
Looking for pictures of large 2 story home on corner of Broadway & Glendening Streets that was first built to be the Mining Supervisor's home, then was also owned later by the Beauchamp family, that lived here many years. Also Marion Verdell (Blackie & Etta Bernice Smith Bagwell lived here in the 1970's.
Rene' Comer is the granddaughter of the Bagwells and would dearly would appreciate a picture of the home. Her grandparents told her that this home was also called the Huntington Hotel. She was also told that there was a murder and a hanging at the hotel/home. The home burned down around 2001 or so.
You can send us any picture you may have of the home/hotel and we can relay that to her or you can contact her directly.

NAMES OF SCHOOL CHILDREN IN HUNTINGTON SCHOOL PICTURE
|
Looking to identify children in school picture "Huntington School Classmates" on Huntington site and the date of the picture. Daughter believes the boy in the front row, third from the right looks like her dad and the boy 4th from the right looks like my uncle, William Pridmore. The dad may be Robert Harry Pridmore who was born in 1923 and grew up in Huntington. If you know any of the school children in picture please advise. Robert's parents were Thomas Abner Pridmore (born in Magazine, AR in 1892) and Mary Elizabeth (Horgan). The Horgans came from Wales. They were all coal mining families. Robert's grandparents also lived nearby In Huntington "on the other side of the river" (Cherokee Creek)* Their names were James Thomas Pridmore (born in South Carolina) and Melinda Ellen (Wells). Melinda family left Arkansas in the early 1850's for Fort Worth Texas, but returned sometime between 1861 and 1863.
Note: The Huntington school in the picture was built and open in 1910.
If anyone has any information on any of my relatives, please contact Cindy Pridmore she would love to know more. If there is an email address or address of where she can inquire into more information that would be appreciated too. If there is anyone in the Huntington area that remembers my dad and would like to talk with him (he's 87) they can email me and I will put them in contact. My dad would really enjoy speaking to anyone who shares any common memories.
